This fascinating 3D medical animation shows a time lapse view of labor and delivery during normal vaginal birth in a simplified form with only the mother’s skeletal structures and the baby in the uterus. Also shown in detail is dilatation (dilation or dilating) and effacement (thinning) of the cervix during childbirth contractions.

Oh my goodness, this took me right back to watching my children being born. It is extraordinarily beautiful and humbling.
Wow! In few weeks i´m giving birth to my third child, but still I´m so fascinated by this movie, though I´ve tried it myself – twice, and soon three times. It is such a beautyful piece – especially with the cello-suite
thank you!-kir. Danmark
Human race is a miracle indeed. This movie made me think that years ago I was just like that, in my mother’s tummy
and now I am pretending I am a gown up and everything… It’s a miracle how something that little and helpless can become the humans we are today.
I’m 3 months Pregnant with my first and terrified of giving birth… this doesn’t help any lol. Its quite amazing at what our bodies can do though! Great vid….I’ll be passing this along to my other pregnant friends
