Scientists’ Discovery Opens Door to Synthetic Life

Posted on: March 10, 2009

Harvard University scientists are a step closer to creating synthetic forms of life, part of a drive to design man-made organisms that may one day be used to help produce new fuels and create biotechnology drugs.

Researchers led by George Church, whose findings helped spur the U.S. human genome project in the 1980s, have copied the part of a living cell that makes proteins, the building blocks of life. The finding overcomes a major roadblock in making synthetic self-replicating organisms, Church said today in a lecture at Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The technology can be used to program cells to make virtually any protein, even some that don’t exist in nature, the scientists said. That may allow production of helpful new drugs, chemicals and organisms, including living bacteria. It also opens the door to ethical concerns about creation of processes that may be uncontrollable by life’s natural defenses.

very nice post, thanks!!!!!

Vеll, nоt perfеct рost, but I liked it and that is the mаin thing. ;)
I am Voli Dublino

My name is Greg, and although i do not have cancer, which it is my mother, has primary lung with metastases in the brain. It uses vicodin and I found very interesting to participate in this forum since i believe that is important to share experiences and data. Which suffers from this disease not only must learn to live with it, upon says findrxonline but also that we are to its around. And it, more than the outcome is learning to live in another way, i think that is the opportunity to rethink many things of one’s life. I do not know, what say you?

Science today has changed, I hope you used the right way, because there are medications such as vicodin, oxycodone, Lortab, etc, are anxiolytic and although much help to soothe the pain, can be double-edged weapon to control pain, so indicate in findrxonline to be confident that this discovery is beneficial to all.

Nobody is free of cancer, hopefully soon find a cure and to fight this disease now, because it is tedious to go to therapy all the time and drugs to treat the disease are very strong opiates as vicodin, Oxycodone, Lortab, Norco medicines too high in codeine and acetaminophen considered hallucinogenic drugs, as indicated in findrxonline…com then imagine how much pain, really hope there will be a solution as quickly as possible for this …..

You need only have the strength to move forward, let us remember that everyone must participate in the health of the people because it is so precarious, and will visit findrxonline on these topics and other diseases ..
